Física o Química: A Realistic Look at Spanish High Schools

Right now, there is another series called Élite that tries to emulate the genre, but it is nothing like it. Although one of the creators is the same, if you watch an episode of Élite and then one of Física o Química, you realize that Física o Química feels like reality. The events in Élite do not happen in any Spanish high school, but the situations in Física o Química could be happening in different parts of the country.

The strange thing was that they all happened in the same high school. It was curious, but that structure ensured there wasn't an episode without a compelling plot.

About the Series

Física o Química, directed by Carlos Montero, is a high-quality Spanish series centered on high school students navigating adolescence and making decisions that influence their future. The series is well-written, featuring interesting characters and a plot that maintains the viewer's attention. It consists of 7 seasons that aired from 2008 to 2011.

Key Themes and Social Issues

The series tackles important themes, including:

  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Racism
  • Bullying
  • Sexuality
  • Love and friendship
  • Family relationships

Cast and Production

The acting is excellent, with a talented cast bringing the characters to life, including:

  • Andrea Duro as Yoli
  • Maxi Iglesias as Cabano
  • Javier Calvo as Fernando
  • Angy Fernández as Paula
  • Blanca Romero, Cecilia Freire, and Ana Milán as teachers like Irene, Blanca, and Olimpia

The production value is stunning, with well-crafted sets and a strong, catchy soundtrack that helps bring the story to life.

Final Verdict

Overall, I highly recommend Física o Química to those looking for an engaging series that addresses important social issues. It is a must-see, as the plot is moving and the characters are highly relatable. In my opinion, it is well worth watching.
