Proximity

Proximity is all about using visual spaces to show relationships in your content. We can group the items in blocks of text or elements in the graphic to take visual emphasis.

White Space

White space, also known as negative space, refers to the spaces between your content, between lines, and even the margins. White space defines and separates different sections.

Alignment

We can separate text boxes, images, etc. by imagining their content as a range inside of a grid. Centering the images to the text and using equal size margins can create a visually pleasing alignment.

Contrast

Contrast means that one item is different from another. We can create contrast using color, size, shape, or contrasting styles of text. Hierarchy, a visual technique... Continue reading "Using Proximity, White Space, Alignment, Contrast, and Repetition in Design" »

The Critical Problem of Bullying in Society

I think that bullying is an important problem in our country and society. Furthermore, bullying is dangerous for children and young people because their feelings at those ages are very sensitive. When children feel threatened, they don't know what to do, and they can commit suicide or simply avoid society.

Many children don't tell their parents when they are being bullied by other children in their school because they are frightened. I hope that, with time, these children will no longer be afraid. Last month, I watched on TV an incident in a school in Spain. One boy killed a classmate because he thought that the boy was saying private things. In my opinion, adults should be vigilant regarding bullying... Continue reading "Addressing Critical Social and Environmental Challenges" »

FAmily matters

The short story “The Force of Circumstances” symbolizes the British imperialism.

With the figure of Guy, the protagonist of the story, the author wants to personificate the British colonization in Malaysia. The fact that Guy uses the love the Malay woman has for him to stop himself of feeling lonely and then leaving her alone with kids, shows the egoism of many British people living in Malaysia while M. Was a British colony and the trouble and conflicts they caused in the country. With this story the author also wants to point out the difference between both cultures and with the example of Doris, how the whites wanted to impregnate their own culture without caring and respecting the culture of local people.

The short story “An Outpost

Architecture: Beyond Creative Design

A lot of people think that being an architect is all about designing, but they tend to forget that it takes more than just creativity to succeed. To thrive in the architectural profession, you must be able to think outside the box. The process of designing and constructing a building is long and complex. An architect must consider the environment, the weather, the function, the materials, and many other factors beyond just the overall aesthetic look of the structure.

Historical Roots of the Architectural Profession

While the term 'architecture' traces its origins back to Ancient Greece, the field had not yet become a recognizable profession in its own right during those times. The first identifiable architect... Continue reading "The Architectural Profession: Skills, History, and Design Innovation" »
