Sophocles, a Greek playwright, conceived that nothing is as wonderful as man. For Greek philosophers, the human being is admirable because he is a special part of nature, but is different from other natural beings. Plato believed that humans are dual beings, consisting of the body (material and mortal) and the soul (spiritual and immortal). He says the human being must constantly make an effort to get rid of everything that ties them to this world. Aristotle argues that man is a physical and biological being that has a vegetative soul, like the rest of the animals, and a sensitive soul. All his activities as a living creature are adapted to a greater determination. For Aristotle, man is a substantial... Continue reading "Philosophical Evolution of Human Nature" »

The Human Excretory System

All cells produce wastes and toxins; if these accumulate, they can be harmful. They must be eliminated through the function of excretion. The blood carries these substances to the organs responsible for their elimination. The organs involved in excretion include:

  • The kidneys: They eliminate toxic substances through urine and form part of the urinary system.
  • Lungs: They expel CO2.
  • Liver: It eliminates wastes from medicines, drugs, and other substances by forming bile (which is also used in digestion).

Anarchist Principles and Social Solidarity

Anarchist thinkers had in common three basic principles: the exaltation of individual freedom and social solidarity, the critique of private property while defending forms of collective ownership, and the rejection of authority, mainly the state. They defended the action of the revolutionary workers and peasants to destroy the state and create a new collectivist and egalitarian society.
