The death penalty, capital punishment or execution consists of causing the death of a condemned person by the State, as punishment for a crime established in the legislation.

Executions and death sentences have decreased worldwide after reaching record highs in previous years.

But in countries where the death penalty is still applied, such as the United States, Sudan, China ... It is used as a punishment for crimes of murder, espionage, treason, or as part of military law.In some countries it applies also to punish sexual crimes, being considered as such adultery. And it is also punished in some Muslim countries, the renunciation of their own religion.
