Hop-Frog: A Tale of Revenge and Escape

Synopsis

This story is about a dwarf called "Hop-Frog." He was a small person, captured by the king and forced to act as a jester for the king's entertainment. The king was a nefarious person who abused Hop-Frog and another dwarf called Trippetta. She was similar to Hop-Frog but more beautiful and kind. The king always treated them despicably. On one occasion, the King and his seven generals (who were as despicable as the king) were planning a costume party. They were searching for someone to plan everything, and the only one capable was Hop-Frog. So, the king called him.

Hop-Frog found the king and his seven generals drinking beer. The king asked Hop-Frog for ideas, but Hop-Frog didn't have any at that moment. The king served a cup of beer and forced Hop-Frog to drink it, even though Hop-Frog tried to decline, knowing that alcohol affected him badly. His words were in vain.

The king forced him to drink another cup because Hop-Frog didn't provide any ideas. Trippetta appeared and tried to stop him. Furious and insolent, the king threw the contents of the cup at Trippetta, who left the court crying. Witnessing this, Hop-Frog was furious and devised a revenge plan. He told the king and the seven generals how they should dress for the party, explaining everything.

He suggested that the king and the generals enter dressed as orangutans to scare the people, but the king and company didn't know that the material used for the costumes was flammable and impossible to take off. In the middle of the act, Hop-Frog grabbed a torch and burned them alive. With no possibility of escape, the king and the seven generals died. After his revenge plan was successful, Hop-Frog escaped with Trippetta to the forest, where they lived happily for the rest of their lives.
