Hello! In this video, I'm going to talk about Twitter, perhaps my "main" social network.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social network created on July 13, 2006. It was invented by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams. Currently, it has 326 million users. This isn't anything compared to Facebook with 2.271 billion users or WhatsApp, which has 1.5 billion users nowadays.

What Can You Do on Twitter?

On Twitter, you can write short texts (with 240 characters or less) about anything you want, and then you can wait for your friends' answers. You can also use Twitter to read news, be aware of trending topics, or see memes when you are bored. Another functionality that Twitter has is that you can direct message your friends.

Separate the People from the Problem

The relationship tends to become entangled with the problem. Negotiators have to separate the relationship from the substance and deal directly with the people's problem. How to do it?

  • Put yourself in the shoes of your counterpart.
  • Talk about the ideas and expectations of both parties.
  • Do not hold your counterpart responsible for your own problems.

Make sure the other party is involved in the decision and actively participates. Make it possible for them to "save face": Adapt your suggestions to the value system of your negotiation partner.

Articulate your emotions and acknowledge that they are justified. Allow the other party to let off steam.

Use symbolic gestures (e.g., shaking hands, a small gift).

Listen attentively... Continue reading "Effective Negotiation Strategies" »

Response Through Action (TPR):

Even in our mother tongue, we do not always respond to a linguistic message with another linguistic message. Very often, the fact of doing something is an adequate response to a message just received. So, a physical answer is also a way to prove partial or total comprehension (when the child hears 'Come here', he/she does not answer 'I'm coming'. He/she simply does it).

Besides, we often understand more than we are able to speak so in the first steps learning a language, a physical response plays an especially significant role.
