Network Infrastructure
Power Supply: These are the cables that link the call centers providing service to the property, available for service at a point inside. The design, dimensioning, and implementation of the network are the responsibility of the service operators.
Distribution Network
Multi-pair cables extend the pairs of the power supply network, distributing them throughout the property. A specific amount of these pairs is made available at strategic points to provide service to every potential user. This infrastructure serves as the primary distribution network, regardless of the number of operators providing services in the building.
Network Dispersion
This portion of the network consists of all individual pairs (internal drop cables) that join the distribution network to every home user.
Inner User Network
This network starts from the dispersion point, passes through the interior of the user's home, and ends at the points connected to the telephone terminals.
Connection Components
- Interconnection Point: Facilitates the connection between the power supply networks of service operators and the distribution network. The pairs of the power supply networks are terminated in a terminal block (input terminal) independently for each service operator. These entry strips are installed by the operators. The distribution network pairs are terminated in separate strips (output strips) installed by the property owner.
- Distribution Point: Connects the distribution network and the dispersion network. It consists of connecting blocks where one side terminates the distribution network pairs and the other terminates the drop cables within the dispersion network.
- Network Termination Point (NTP): The device that terminates the dispersion network and marks the beginning of the user's internal home network. It allows for the clear delineation of responsibilities for fault generation, detection, and repair (supplied by the telephone operator).
- Basis of Access Terminal (BAT): Performs the connection between the user network and individual analog or digital telephone terminals. If services include analog or digital TV or video-on-demand, these terminals must include the appropriate features for connecting equipment.
Number of Access Points
The number of access points required to cover the necessary infrastructure for sharing and ISDN telephony (basic) must be at least two points per dwelling, with a minimum of one point for every two rooms.
