List the Most Important Functions of Blood

  • Heating: transporting or regulating body heat
  • Transport nutrients and O2 to the cell
  • Defense mechanism against pathogens
  • Transport CO2 waste from cells
  • Transport of hormones: insulin

Why the Circulatory System is Vital

  • Because it keeps the cells provided with what they need and removes what they need to get rid of.
  • By blood is the means by which some organs influence other organs to perform functions (HORMONES)

Observe the Blood Components

A. CENTRIFUGATION...

PLASMA (55%) / WBC PLATELETS / RBC

LABEL THE...

HEMATOCRIT: Plasma (55%) is the liquid part of the blood and sustains the cells, keeping them fed and alive. It is made up of H2O, salts, nutrients...

B. MAIN CELLULAR...

WHITE BLOOD CELLS

  1. Red blood cells: transport O2 to cells
  2. Platelets: blood clotting of wounds, preventing bleeding
  3. White blood cells: defense mechanism against pathogens

Carefully Observe the Blood Flow

  1. Arteria Aorta
  2. Arteria Pulmonaris
  3. Vena Pulmonaris
  4. Left Atrium
  5. Left Ventricle
  6. Right Ventricle
  7. Vena Cava

The right ventricle contracts to send blood to the pulmonary artery. To do that, the tricuspid valve has to be closed and the pulmonary valve has to be open.

We have two hearts in one because we have two sides that perform different functions. The right heart takes CO2-rich blood from the organs to the lungs, and the left heart takes O2-rich blood from the lungs to the organs. This is why we say that our circulatory system is double; those two circuits don't communicate.

Basic Components of the Circulatory System

  • Tonsils
  • Spleen
  • Chyle
  • Node

A. THE SPLEEN...

Affects the immune system because it is the principal resource of white blood cells, and the levels decrease.

B. JUSTIFY THE PRESENCE...

Because these organs have the first contact with pathogens trying to enter our body.

C. FUNCTIONS OF THE...

Transport fats absorbed from the small intestine.

D. DURING...

When our lymph nodes lengthen as more blood cells come to fight off an invasion or irritation. They essentially swell, causing pressure and swelling, often near the infection site.
