ERASMUS+ PROJECT PROPOSAL

Are We That Different?

A documentary about teenagers in Europe

1. Project Summary

Make a short documentary (4-5 minutes) comparing the daily lives, worries, dreams and hobbies of teenagers from Spain and another European country. The project starts with one question: Are we really so different because we live in different countries?

To answer this question, students from both schools will answer the same questions. Their answers will be grouped by topic and shown through short interviews, everyday scenes, subtitles and a final conclusion. The aim is to show that, although our cultures and schools may be different, we also share many experiences, worries and interests.

2. IES Ben Arabi Erasmus+ Objectives

Objective 1: Languages and Recognition
  • Ask simple questions in English, add subtitles and use the language to communicate with students from another European country.
Objective 2: Support for Different Needs
  • Include students with different interests, experiences and opinions, and avoid stereotypes about young people from each country.
Objective 5: Digital Skills
  • Use video-editing tools to create a documentary that can be shared as an educational resource.
Objective 6: Better Learning and Prevention
  • Create an interesting and encouraging video to help other students learn about Erasmus+ exchanges and feel less worried about studying in another country.

3. Work Plan

  • Before the mobility: Prepare five to eight questions, write a short script and plan the scenes to record in both schools.
  • During the mobility: Interview students at the host school, record everyday scenes with permission, and ask about hobbies, future plans, school life and worries. Spanish students will answer the same questions so we can compare the answers.
  • After the mobility: Choose the best parts, group the answers by topic, edit the video, add subtitles and music that we are allowed to use, and write a conclusion based on what we found.

4. Final Product

A 4-5 minute documentary, called Are We That Different?, with a poster and a QR code linking to the video. It can be shown at school and used in tutor time or activities to prepare students for future Erasmus+ exchanges.
