Simple past grammar

The simple present tense

is One of several forms of present tense in English. It is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general Truths, and fixed arrangements.

1^st Person normal, do, don’t.

3^rd Add -s question does, doesn’t,

For habits
He drinks tea at Breakfast.
She only eats fish.

Present perfect

Affirmative: 1^st have walked, 3^rd Has walked

Negative: 1^st haven’t walked, 3^rd Hasn’t walked

Interrogative 1^st have I walked? 3^rd Has she walked?

Present continuous

1^st I/you am/are going, i/you am not/ aren’t Going, am I going? Are you going?

3^rd he is going, he isn’t going, is he Going?

Present perfect continuous: Has been + ing

1^st I have been, I haven’t been, have I been living?

3^rdShe has been, she hasn't Been running, has she been running? Hasn't she been running

Simple Past

El "simple past" se utiliza para hablar De una acción que Concluyó en un tiempo anterior al actual. La duración no es relevante. El tiempo en que se sitúa la Acción puede ser el pasado reciente o un pasado lejano.

1st i Walked, i didn’t walk, did I walk?

3^rd He walked, he didn’t walk. Did he walk?

Simple Past verbs I, he, she, it = was, you, they we = be= were, have= had, do= did

Past perfect

1^st I had decided, I hadn’t decided, had I decided?

3^rd She had decided, she hadn’t decided, had she decided?

Past Continuous

El "past continuous" describe acciones O eventos situados en un tiempo anterior al presente, cuyo comienzo se sitúa en el pasado y que todavía no ha Concluido en el momento de hablar. Dicho de otro modo, expresa Una acción Incompleta o inconclusa del pasado.

1^st I/he was playing, he wasn’t playing, was i playing?

3^rd You were playing, you weren’t playing, were you playing?

Past perfect continuous

El "past perfect continuous" se Corresponde con el "present perfect continuous" pero se refiere a un Tiempo anterior al pasado reciente. Como ocurre con el "present perfect Continuous", nos interesa más el proceso que el resultado

You/she Had been buying, I hadn’t been buying, had I been buying?

Future continuous

I/you Will be staying, I won’t be staying, will I be staying? Won’t I be staying?

Future perfect

He/I will Have arrived, I won’t have arrived, will I have arrived? Won’t I have arrived?

Future perfect continuous

I/she will have been living, I won’t have been living, will I have been Living? Wont I have been living?
