School Board: Representative Democracy

Key Responsibilities of the School Board

• a) Approve and evaluate projects and standards referred to in Chapter II of Title V of this Law.
• b) Approve and evaluate the annual general programming of the center, without prejudice to the powers of the faculty in conjunction with planning and teaching organization.
• c) Review the candidates for the leadership and management projects submitted by applicants.
• d) Participate in the selection of the center under the terms this Act provides. Be informed of the appointment and dismissal of other members of the team. Where appropriate, the agreement of its members, adopted by a two-thirds majority, to propose the revocation of the appointment of the director.
• e) Decide on the admission of students subject to the provisions of this Act and the regulations that develop it.
• f) Determine the resolution of disciplinary conflicts and ensure that they comply with current legislation.

Faculty: Participatory Democracy

Responsibilities of the Faculty

• a) Develop the team and the school board proposals for the development of school projects and general programming per year.
• b) Approve and evaluate the realization of the curriculum and all educational aspects of projects and general programming per year.
• c) Establish the criteria relating to guidance, mentoring, assessment, and recovery of the students.
• d) Promote initiatives in the field of experimentation, educational research, and the teacher training center.
• e) Elect their representatives on the Council of the school and participate in the selection of a director under the terms established by this Law.
• f) Meet the candidates for the leadership and management projects submitted by candidates.
• g) Review and assess the overall functioning of the center.

School Leadership and Management

Key Duties of School Leadership

• a) Represent the center, representing the education authority in it, and ensure it reaches the approaches, aspirations, and needs of the educational community.
• b) Direct and coordinate all activities of the center, without prejudice to the powers conferred by the faculty and the School Board.
• c) Exercise educational leadership, promoting educational innovation and promoting plans for achieving the objectives of the educational project of the center.
• d) Ensure compliance with laws and other provisions.
• e) Exercise the leadership of all personnel working in the center.
• f) Promote coexistence in the center, ensuring mediation in resolving conflicts and imposing appropriate disciplinary action on students, in compliance with existing regulations and without prejudice to the powers of the School Board in section 127 of this Law.
