Machine Tool Workshop User Guidelines

It is mandatory to wear long trousers (preferably dark blue or black), safety boots, and eye protection for work on machines and benches.

  • Horseplay and shouting that distract others from their work are strictly prohibited.
  • Long hair must be worn pulled back securely.
  • The use of items such as rings or bracelets that may become entangled in moving equipment is prohibited.
  • Anyone who negligently or carelessly breaks a tool must replace it as soon as possible. Similarly, if damage occurs to a machine or equipment, the individual shall carry out the repair or replacement of the damaged parts.
  • Any student, group of students, or teacher using equipment must clean it at the end of the day and tidy the entire area that has been used.
  • Unauthorized students and personnel are prohibited from entering the tool and welding material storage areas.
  • Access for students who do not belong to the specific course is prohibited during academic activities.
  • The use of sound equipment (CD players or similar) is prohibited while working in the workshop.
  • Equipment use is only allowed during the designated academic hours for each course. If a student or teacher needs to use computers outside of academic hours, they must obtain permission from the teachers responsible for the different workshop areas.
  • Tool delivery by the managers of each area occurs at the following times: 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.

Final Degree Projects (TEG) to be done in the workshop can only proceed if the student or group presents drawings signed by their tutor. All machine work, particularly in the Numerical Control area, must be supervised, reviewed, and approved by the teacher in charge of the area where it is performed.

General Workshop Characteristics

The Machine Tools Workshop is located in the basement of the annex building of the IUT Dr. Federico Rivero Palacio. It has a physical space of approximately 900 m², divided into the following areas:

  • Conventional machines
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines
  • Metrology
  • Welding
  • Tool and material stores
  • Compressor room
  • Technical board
  • Restrooms (Ladies and Gentlemen)
