Direct and Background Exposure in History

Direct and background exposure often results from the consequences of history.

The Interview in Modern Media

We must distinguish between two primary forms of the interview within the media landscape:

  • Research Assistant Method: Used primarily for gathering data and background information.
  • Journalistic Genres: These can be further divided into two specific types:
    • Biography or Personality: Focusing on the individual.
    • Information: Focusing on specific facts or events.

The structure of a standard interview consists of two main parts: Presentation and Development.

Opinion Genres and Subjective Analysis

Opinion genres are those that offer subjective analysis, argued interpretations, and judgments regarding current events. Radio and television have recently developed a specific opinion genre: the panel discussion or debate.

The Editorial

The editorial is an argumentative or expository text that remains unsigned. It provides an assessment of an actual fact with the purpose of conditioning or even creating public opinion. It occupies a fixed and prominent place in the newspaper. The wording of the editorial is the editorial team's task. Its structure is not fixed and varies according to the subject or the specific line of thought.

Opinion Articles and Columns

An opinion article is a signed piece of some length, written by a journalist or a regular or occasional contributor. It manifests the author's thinking on the subject in question. A subgenre of the opinion article is the column, which is distinguished by its brevity and its appearance on a regular basis.

Letters to the Editor

This section is aimed at readers, providing a space where they can express their views on various issues, complaints, or protests regarding the news treatment of a given story. Although they are formally addressed to the director, the primary audience is the readers. One of its most important features is brevity.

Mixed Journalistic Genres

Cultural Criticism

Criticism is a genre of cultural information produced by journalists or specialized contributors. The nature of criticism is twofold: it provides information on a particular cultural event and issues an opinion on the quality of certain phenomena. Its purpose is to guide readers through the analyzed activities.

The Chronicle

The chronicle is a signed, comprehensive informational text prepared by a fixed correspondent or a special envoy at the location of the event. The information is presented with a specific focus. Some chronicles are told in the first person, allowing for greater freedom of style. The themes covered in this genre are quite varied.
