The Hidden World Beneath the Caribbean Docks
Every summer, my brother and I visited the docks near the Caribbean Sea. To everyone else, it was just an old wooden walkway covered in salt and rust, but to us, it was the entrance to another world. We would race across the boards, listening to the waves crash beneath our feet as we waited for the boat to arrive. The bright blue water seemed endless, and sometimes I wondered what was hiding underneath it.
One afternoon, while we were waiting for the boat, I noticed something strange. Between two of the oldest boards was a small metal handle that I had never seen before. I called my brother over, and together we pulled on it. To our surprise, a section of the dock lifted up, revealing a narrow staircase that disappeared into the darkness below. We looked at each other, both nervous and excited. Without saying a word, we climbed down.
An Underwater Cavern Beneath the Waves
At the bottom, we found a huge underwater cavern glowing with blue light. Fish of every color swam through the clear water, and strange plants covered the walls. In the middle of the cavern stood an enormous stone archway covered in symbols. As we stepped closer, the symbols began to glow. Suddenly, the water around us started moving, and a deep rumbling echoed through the cave.
My brother grabbed my arm, and we ran back toward the stairs. Behind us, the stone archway slowly opened, revealing a world filled with floating islands and distant mountains. For one moment, I wanted to stay and explore, but the rumbling grew louder. We climbed the stairs as fast as we could and slammed the wooden door shut just as a wave crashed against the dock.
Back to the Ordinary Shore
When we returned to the shore, everything looked normal again. The boats were coming and going, people were talking, and nobody seemed to notice anything unusual. My brother and I never told anyone what we had found. But every time we returned to the docks, I would look between those old wooden boards, wondering if the hidden world was still there. Maybe someday, when we were brave enough, we would open the door again.
