  1. We didn't see The Two Towers because the cinema was closed. If the cinema hadn’t been closed, we would have seen The Two Towers. (Third Conditional)
  2. She doesn't understand because you haven't explained the situation to her. If you explained the situation to her, she would understand. (Second Conditional)
  3. You won't get a promotion if your work doesn't improve. Unless your work improves, you won't get a promotion.
  4. I never eat octopus because I get sick. When I eat octopus, I get sick. (Zero Conditional / General truth)
  5. We didn't pick you up at the station because you didn't phone us. We would have picked you up at the station if you had phoned us. (Third Conditional)
