What Elements Should Be Included in a Lesson Plan?

The elements that constitute a lesson plan are:

Title

The Title is the name of the didactic unit; it indicates the subject matter being discussed.

Introduction

The Introduction is a brief summary of what the didactic unit will entail.

Justification

The Justification explains why the teacher is conducting this unit.

Aims

Aims are the capacities the teacher intends for their pupils to achieve during the course.

Contents

Contents are the ways to develop the capacities to achieve the aims. They are divided into thematic blocks.

Methodology

Methodology is the method the teacher uses to conduct activities, achieve aims and contents, address diversity, utilize materials, and evaluate their pupils. In general, it is the way the teacher conducts their class.

Context

Context includes families, the neighborhood, public transport, green areas, and sports facilities. All these aspects constitute the context, which influences the development of the didactic unit.

Evaluation

Evaluation is the collection of information from students before, during, and after the teaching-learning process. There are many kinds of evaluation: initial, formative, continuous, and summative.

Activity

The Activity depends on the didactic unit and the level of the students. The activity must be suitable if the teacher wants to achieve their aim.

Materials

Materials are the resources that help us put the activities into practice.

Diversity Attention

Diversity Attention refers to the adaptations the teacher must make if they have a student with some kind of difficulty.

Students finishing primary education must have achieved the following eight Competences:

  • Cultural and artistic competence

Time

Time answers the question: When? The time indicates the term, the number of days, the duration of the session, and the reasoning behind it.

Level

The Level is very important for the teacher. They must know the level of their students because if the teacher proposes activities of a higher level than their pupils, the activity won’t be achieved.

Groupings

Groupings depend on the number of sessions, the activity, and the level of the students. There is no single unique grouping for a didactic unit.

Link

The Link refers to how all teachers in all subjects must relate their subject with others.

Foster School

Whenever possible, we must include some aspects of the Foster School to collaborate directly with the center.
