Kerlinger's Criteria:

- It must be clearly formulated as a question.
- It must be observable and testable in reality (empirical testing).
Sampieri and co-authors consider:

- c) The justification of the study.
Research Objectives
- Clarify the issue or problem.
- Contribute to the solution of a problem.
- Test a theory or provide empirical evidence.
Research Questions
- Must be precise, specific, and define all variables within the research scope.
- Must be limited to the specific study context.
Study Rationale
This defines the importance of the investigation and identifies the key variables involved.
Types of Research
- Exploratory: Used when the issue has been little explored, or there is a lack of previous studies or precise hypotheses.
- Descriptive: Focuses on describing events using systematic criteria to show the structure or behavior of phenomena, providing comparable information. It requires considerable knowledge of the area to formulate specific questions.
- Correlational: Analyzes two or more variables to determine if they are related. Its purpose is to understand how one variable behaves based on its relationship with others.
- Explanatory: Analyzes the causal relationships of events to explain the "why" or "how" of phenomena. This is more complex and carries a higher risk of error.
