Project Description and Environmental Analysis

A detailed description of the project to be carried out and its location, including an analysis of the changes that could occur in the environment both in the implementation phase of the work and in the exploitation or abandonment. This includes a description of materials used, ground to be occupied, waste, emissions, light emissions, smells, noises, vibrations, etc.

Review of Technical Alternatives

B) A review of technically feasible alternatives and a justification of the solution or solutions adopted. In this consideration of alternatives, each of the options considered must be included, along with their potential impacts and the intensity of the same, although in practice this is usually done to assess and identify the impacts.

Environmental Inventory and Interactions

2) Related to the environment:

Ecological Interactions and Census

a) An environmental inventory and description of key environmental and ecological interactions. It must detail the effects on the individual, the environment, natural resources, human activity, and all who may be affected. This will require a census, inventory, quantification, and mapping of all areas where this may be of interest, not only to know the current situation but also to compare with what might happen in the future, once the work and operation are executed, for all alternatives under consideration.

Identification and Evaluation of Impacts

b) Identification and evaluation of impacts, both on the solution proposed and the alternatives, which includes an assessment of all those remarkable, foreseeable direct and indirect effects of the project on:

  • Population, fauna, and flora
  • Soil, air, and water
  • Climatic factors and landscape
  • Material assets, including historical and artistic heritage and archaeology

Protective Measures and Control

3) Protective and control measures:

a) A proposal for protective and corrective measures that may be used to reduce, eliminate, or offset significant adverse effects affecting the environment. Additionally, a program of surveillance and environmental monitoring will be established so as to ensure compliance with the remedial measures contained in the study.

Executive Summary and Feasibility

4) Executive Summary:

a) This section sets out the conclusions regarding the feasibility of the proposed actions, the choice of alternatives, the proposed remedial measures, and the monitoring program, both in the implementation phase of the planned activity and in its operation.
