Diabetes Control Knowledge

  • Description of the role of nutrition in blood sugar regulation.
  • Demonstration of correct blood glucose monitoring techniques.

Interventions and Activities

  • Prescribed Diet Teaching: Explain the purpose of the diet, instruct on permitted versus restricted foods, and adapt preferences to the prescribed plan.
  • Individual Instruction: Assess current knowledge, establish mutual and realistic learning goals, determine the order of information presentation, and evaluate objective achievement.

Clinical Note: Differentiate this from Ineffective Management of Therapeutic Regimen. Do not use the latter if the patient has not yet been prescribed a therapeutic scheme during their initial consultation.

Ineffective Management of Therapeutic Regimen

Definition: A situation where the patient's integration of a disease treatment program into their daily life is inadequate to achieve health goals.

  • Manifested by (m/p): Desire to manage the disease but difficulty regulating behavior and executing necessary changes.

Criteria and Indicators: Conduct Assessment

  • Consistent attendance at nursing appointments.
  • Compliance with recommended treatments and personal care.

Interventions and Activities

  • Behavior Modification: Help the patient identify and reinforce strengths, replace undesirable habits with desirable ones, and select meaningful reinforcements.
  • Collaborative Planning: Assist the patient in identifying health practices to change, setting personal goals, developing an action plan, and establishing realistic timelines.
