i. Choosing one global public good. Argue why it should be considered as a global public good.

- Author defines global public good as a good, service, or resource that is available for all because it involves non-rivalry and non-excludability. One example is trade liberalization of services, as it can generate market opportunities to offer services around the world.

ii. Identify the international organization that should manage it. Explain why.

One example is UNCTAD because this organization manages trade liberalization in services (global public good). UNCTAD would offer studies, reports, and recommendations to governments to implement measures to liberalize the services sector.

iii. Mention any problem related to the chosen global public good. Propose a possible solution.

UNCTAD can work to offer technical assistance to the governments of developing countries to promote private service sectors:

  • Monitoring the role of business in developing countries to develop recommendations and resources for private service sectors to engage in the process of liberalization
  • Conducting global studies on private service sectors to produce an annual publication on trends, opportunities, and challenges related to the liberalization of services worldwide
