Company Organization

The formal organization is the intentional setting that is made of the different tasks and responsibilities, fixing its structure so as to achieve the objectives set by the company.

The informal organization comprises a network of informal relationships that occur in the business field and have not been planned by management or established previously.

Synergy means cooperation. Synergy generates a greater overall effect than the sum of the effects that occur in each part separately.

The Division of Labor

Organizations can be hierarchically organized:

  • Functional
  • By product
  • By markets
  • Mixed

Organizations can be centralized with a hierarchical structure by levels, while non-hierarchical organizations are decentralized and have a flexible structure.

An organization chart is the graphic representation of an organization.

Organization charts with a vertical pyramid shape represent the top-down hierarchical levels.

The horizontal organization is represented from left to right, and the circular organization is represented by concentric circles that symbolize each of the levels.

Functional Divisions

The functional division occurs when establishing a structure based on specialization by sets of interrelated tasks or different processes within each level.

Division by Product

Division by products is more suitable for large companies or those with a wide range of products. This separation is also made in the case of products requiring a high degree of specialization in their treatment.

Division by Markets

Division by markets is used when the prevailing standard is the expertise of different types of markets where the company acts.

Selection of People: The key idea is that the jobs must be filled by persons having adequate technical training and who, in addition, possess qualities and skills to interact socially.

Motivation of People: The challenge is to design and implement the actions needed to achieve the maximum satisfaction and efficiency of workers.

Internal Reasons: These come from within and will depend on the character of each person.

External Motivation: These are caused by a particular situation: working conditions, wages, and certain relationships with superiors and colleagues.

At the bottom of all these theories lies the fact that people move to meet their own needs.
