Introduction

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about my favorite place in the world — Benidorm. It is a magical city on the Mediterranean coast, in the province of Alicante, part of the Valencian Community. Benidorm is surrounded by mountains and the sea, and the sun shines almost all year. You can easily get there from Alicante by car or train, and when you arrive, you see the tall buildings shining under the sun — like a small Spanish New York by the sea.

For me, Benidorm is much more than a tourist destination. It is full of laughter, friends, and freedom — where I have lived the best summers of my life.

Personal Memories in Benidorm

I have been going to Benidorm since I was very little and have spent almost every summer there. I love spending the mornings on the beach, playing volleyball, and going paddle surfing. I also enjoy sailing; this year, my friend got his boat license, and we went to the island almost every week.

Every evening, we went to a spot at the top of the beach. We took chairs and our dinner, and we ate there while watching the sunset. It is a quiet, hidden place and one of my favorites. Most of all, I love spending time with my friends — I only go home to eat and shower before heading out again.

Festivals and Traditions

Benidorm is famous for its skyline and its festivals. The two most important are the Fiesta Mayor and Les Fogueres de Sant Joan.

  • Fiesta Mayor: Lasts one week and is full of music, parades, and fireworks.
  • Les Fogueres de Sant Joan: In June, people build big wooden figures throughout the city and burn them at midnight to welcome summer.

These traditions fill Benidorm with light, color, and joy.

Food and Local Highlights

Another thing I love about Benidorm is the food. My favorite dishes include:

  • Pluma ibérica: A soft, juicy pork cut.
  • Arroz a banda: Rice cooked in a rich fish broth.
  • Fried calamari.

Every Sunday, my family and I used to go to a beach bar called “El Marinero”, right by the sea. We always ordered arroz a banda and listened to the waves — it became a family tradition.

I also enjoy the “zona guiri”, where many international tourists spend time. While some joke about it, I think it gives the city a fun, international atmosphere. My favorite place to visit is Aqualandia, the water park, which is incredibly fun! Finally, the most beautiful spot in Benidorm is the Balcón del Mediterráneo, a viewpoint where you can see the sea and take amazing photos.

Conclusion

For me, Benidorm is not just a city — it is a feeling. It is the sun, the sea, the food, the festivals, and the laughter with my friends. It is where I have lived my happiest summers and where I always feel free. Thank you for reading!
