Imperialism and Its Primary Causes

The Dominance of European Powers

Legal Capacity and Administrative Power

The private person has legal capacity when the agreement is needed to transfer legal consequences to other subjects. This is not imposed; it requires an agreement, arrangement, or public legal consent. Legal consequences need not be agreed upon with the state, but are purely imposed imperatives for unwilling recipients. It acts in the exercise of administrative law unilaterally.

Classification of Public Legal Administrations

When all factors—substrate, recognition of legal-administrative power, and the granting of territorial and institutional status—are present, public legal administrations can be divided into territorial and institutional categories.

The Marriage of Isabella and Ferdinand

In 1469, a marriage took place between Isabella I (the future Queen of Castile) and Ferdinand II (the future King of Aragon). Isabella was 18 and Ferdinand was 17. While it was primarily a political marriage, it was also strategic: Ferdinand of Aragon helped secure Isabella's position as the likely Queen of Castile, as she was the sister of the weak King Henry IV.

The Succession Crisis and Civil War

Henry IV had a daughter, Joanna, though it was rumored she was not his biological child but rather the daughter of a palace adviser, Beltrán de la Cueva (hence she was nicknamed La Beltraneja). Upon the death of Henry IV of Castile, a civil war broke out between the supporters of Joanna and those of Isabella.... Continue reading "The Catholic Monarchs and the Unification of Spain" »

3. Early Experience: Because older children often help to look after younger ones, they gain experience early and feel more confident about parenting in the future.

Effects: Outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid; the destruction of aquatic ecosystems; and eutrophication—a process where nutrient-rich fertilizer runoff causes massive algal blooms that suffocate marine life by stripping oxygen from the water.

Fertilizer Runoff → Algae Bloom → Algae Dies & Decomposes → Oxygen Depletion → Fish Die

Water Pollution Control Strategies

  • Setting up Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) to treat wastewater before it reaches natural rivers.
  • Enforcing strict laws on industrial effluent discharge.
