Unit 8: Volleyball Passes

Forward, Back, and Side Passes

We execute these passes using our fingers. In the forward pass, we place our hands in front of our forehead to hit the ball. For back and side passes, the hands are placed above our head. These passes are used almost exclusively when attacking.

Serve Reception

Receive the ball in a "W" formation. The setter is the player in the third or second position, depending on the chosen strategy.

Attack Techniques

  • Backward attack with a semi-short pass or a forward attack with a short pass.
  • Attack through the middle with a short or semi-short pass, or an attack by a player with a short or tense pass that just touches the net.

Unit 9: Body Language and Rhythm

Rhythm Defined

Rhythm is the order or proportion in space and time, produced by a series of linked movements.

Internal Rhythm

This is responsible for ordering the biological functions of the body, such as heart rate.

External Rhythm

This is understood as our response to external stimuli, helping us to organize our movements in time and space.

How to Enrich Your Exercise

To improve your movement expression and control:

  • Vary your movement.
  • Find the meaning of your movements: Each rhythmic movement should express an idea or feeling and have a meaning.
  • Experience different sensations so that we can later communicate them through our movements.
  • Play with contrasts by changing the rhythm and intensity of your movements.
