OR GROUP CARACTERIZACIÓN-NOS-STROKE
Common to the group are the following characteristics:
- A wealthy social attraction to ideology, conceiving Galicia as a base country.
- Labrego (peasant) rigor in training and notoriety in all undergraduate degrees.
- Knowledge of the Galician language as creators of modern prose.
In the group and the project, the emblematic director Vicente Risco appears, accompanied by Noguerol, Pedrayo, Cuevillas, and Anxel Castelao Casal. A magazine marked a cultural objective for universal Galician culture.
VICENTE RISCO
There are three stages in his work:
- Pregaleguista: Characterized by intellectual individualism, irrationalism, and critical science, where critical appraisal of science gives way to the belief that the human being can master nature.
- Anationalist-Catholicism: Characterized by historicism and culturanism, defending the historical relativity of social phenomena, spiritualism, and religiosity. Religiosity permeates Risco's thought, defending a return to mysticism and myth as a form of knowledge.
Literary Work - Perceived Influences:
Influenced by three literary movements:
- Symbolist and post-symbolist currents.
- Avant-garde artists.
- Galician oral tradition.
Narrative Styles:
- Modernist Narrative: "If you do happened to Dr. Alveiro."
- Idyllic Narrative: A story set in the Galician stage, such as "A velliña vella" and "O lobo da xente."
- Satirical Literature: Satirical views appear with "O porco de pe," one of the most innovative novels of the era on the literary scene.
- Literary Essay: "Europeans will Abrantes" and "O porco de pe" signal a deep ideological crisis, distancing from Galicianism and accentuated existential pessimism. "Mitteleuropa" shows a faith in an aggressive bluff, convinced that Europe is preparing for a battle between the forces of good and evil. Until his death in '63, Risco distanced himself from the language and absolute ideas that inspired his work of plenitude.
OTERO PEDRAYO
Otero Pedrayo is undoubtedly our most multifaceted and plural writer. He was a poet, playwright, and geographer.
- Poetry: Published "Bocarribeira." In '28, he published "Lagarde," which is his most representative piece and lends itself to representation. In the post-war period, he wrote plays such as "Rosalía," "O fidalgo," and "Compostela Noite."
- Essay: His works include "Da física xeografía de Galicia," "Pelerinaxes," and "Book dos amigos."
- Narrative: His works can be classified as cultural or historical. Novels like "Romario de Xelmírez" are realistic historical novels. "O Don Ramiro Purgatory," "Estradas da vida," and "O señor da Reboraina" are also notable. Finally, his psychological novels include "Neboa escrita" and "Non paralelas vidas." Among the most successful psychological novels was "Arredores."
