An Unforgettable Escape: A Day of Freedom and Friendship

I remember the day I ran away from school for the first time in my life. That day, I felt an urge to escape from the insipid schoolwork. Sunshine gently touched my skin, and I could hear the wind whisper, tempting me with the eagerness for freedom. After persuading my friends to join me, we started our unexpected journey. We felt a little fear for our spontaneity; our hearts pounded with excitement and fear at the same time.

We decided to spend the day at the beautiful lake nearby our school, which looked like a colossal sapphire, vividly reflecting the sunshine. I felt the impulse to jump directly into that lake, but considering the season—autumn—I calmed myself down. But thanks to autumn, we got to see an exquisite collaboration of maple trees that looked like they were burning vehemently with red-hot leaves. It seemed even more grandiose next to the deep blue, jewel-like river right next to it.

A Lunch Break Filled with Laughter and Camaraderie

After enjoying the view, some of us wanted to eat lunch. We bought lunch boxes at the convenience store nearby and sat in a circle at the picnic area. Out of hunger, we all devoured our lunch in silence. Due to my burdensome workload, I never got a chance to hang out with my friends like this before. Every day, I went to after-school academies, only to come back home after 11 p.m., burdened with exhaustion. So, this lunch meant more than just a $5 lunch box to me. I felt glad to spend a day with my darling friends like this.

A Nap Under the Autumn Sun

After lunch, we felt full and cozy, so one of my friends suggested that we visit his house and take a nap. But today, I wanted something more unique, such as doing what I had always hoped for. I told them we could just sleep on the grass, under the warm sunshine. Whenever I saw or read stories about people taking a nap outside in sunny weather, I always coveted to emulate their trip full of happiness if I could catch an opportunity. Luckily, all my friends agreed. We all put our heads toward one spot and closed our eyes like a scene in a teenage movie, which I always wished for.

A Bittersweet Ending to a Perfect Day

When we woke up, my mom called me and told me that everyone was worried about us. I felt a bit penitent for them, but I couldn’t deny that I had spent one of the most unforgettable days of my life. That valuable moment made me believe I could also live a life full of excitement and dreamy things, like a drama.
