Understanding Your Vocation

Your destination is an imperious tendency toward a particular way of life for the realization of your potential. Vocation is a force that operates both inside the individual, pushing them to act in pursuit of their life project, and outside, where the needs of society provide a real and concrete framework for its expression.

It is the inner force that drives and energizes a person to be held in society. This force is a double called Vocation: EXTERIOR (requirement of the company) and INTERNAL (internal needs).

The call needs to be translated into a vital project.
Vocation can only be met if our profession is trying to improve the world today.
Vocational choice is a process that matures.
Decision-making is learned and exercised in order not to be afraid and feel safer in this process.
Vocational choice should be a more or less conscious process, balanced in the emotional and the rational, targeting the synthesis made up of facts.

Contributions of School Educational Orientation

The school has the conditions to take responsibility and respond to the needs of the vocational guidance of students. The most relevant are:
  1. Facilitate understanding of the characteristics and potential of students.
  2. Stimulate and encourage a diverse range of experience and vocational exploration (Vocational expectations projections).
  3. Integrating the reality of work in school education, either in information sources, work, and occupational needs of the country.
  4. Encouraging the development of attitudes that encourage decision-making in previous stages to career choices (Learning to be decided).
  5. The contribution of the teacher in the vocational guidance of students.

Discovery of Vocation

Vocation is what a person has to be, the life project they have to perform.
The most urgent task is to find the center lines of the project.
This is not easy; it is hard to perceive personal destiny through all the solicitations and taxation through which one lives.

Vocation and Profession

Human beings seek ways of life, trades, and professions, and by certain skills, pleasure, or trends come to pass.
Vocation is the customization of the forms of life.
The profession or trade can be of service to the vocation.
