Report: Online Activities of Teens
To: The European School Council
From: Chavin Kaze
Subject: Online Activities of Teens
Date: 11 November 2025
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to analyze how students use their smartphones in everyday life. Consequently, a survey was conducted among students aged 13 to 17 at our school. The results are summarized below.
Results of the Survey
The survey indicates that texting friends is the most popular activity among teens, with 88% of students doing it regularly. Other common activities include:
- Watching videos: 75%
- Playing games: 70%
- Viewing photos: 68%
- Making phone calls: 62%
- Doing research: 40%
The least popular activity is doing research, likely due to its association with academic tasks.
Reasons for These Results
Many students text their friends because it is quick and easy, helping them stay in contact when they cannot meet in person. Watching videos is entertaining and helps teens relax after a long school day. Similarly, playing games helps students pass the time during breaks or while waiting for transport. While research is fast, it remains less popular as it is often linked to schoolwork and homework assignments.
My Personal Smartphone Activities
I personally use my smartphone to provide my best friends with updates about my life in Vienna via Snapchat. Additionally, I use apps to learn languages and stay informed by reading news on Instagram. In my free time, I watch TikTok videos, such as funny clips or cooking content. When I am bored, my phone keeps me entertained with games like Among Us. In summary, smartphones are primarily used by teens for communication and entertainment.
