Teaching English with Confidence: Strategies and Reflections

*During the course we have learned five strategies about teaching English with greater confidence. First, it is essential to create a safe environment. The classroom should be a place where the student feels comfortable.-In this way, it's important a good relationship between the entire educational community. Creating an environment that strengthens the autonomy and overall making the student feel part of a group not only focusing on the academic environment.-The second strategy is dedicated solely to the teachings in terms of reflecting on your own relationship with the English. The teacher has to be realistic about what he knows, keeping in mind that his knowledge is the basis of learning or any group of students.-The next strategy, is not learning without mistakes, it is important to know how to teach. The word error is always used in a negative way, but should be a tool that children could learn from. You have to give the meaning of learning, making them see that no one is perfect.-A teacher should be a good language role-model, he must have to be aware of his level of English. The teacher is a reference-model and because of that he has to value what he can teach them and to what extent. We must bear in mind that students will learn what we teach them well so they can't be taught anything that we do not know how to do well.-The last strategy is that you have to anticipate problems. The teacher does not have to be all day worried about what can happen, but needs to have solutions for possible problems that could arise. That is, a teacher is a professional and has to know how to act all time. *The specific goal of this course is to improve our English skills (not perfection), to gain confidence and to learn strategies to teach English to primary school students.The goal is not perfection, but to become aware that we can teach in English if we prepare and practice.-The course has helped me understand I can become a teacher in English if I take the preparation stage seriously. I would like to become more aware of how important it is to.-Discipline and desire are two main factors that can never be missed because they are the keys to success.
