Writing Sample 1: Summer Vacation

Last summer vacation, I went to the beach with my family. They came from another town. We went to Mahahual, in Quintana Roo. It's a magical and very natural place. Because I practice kiteboarding, I enjoyed my favorite sport there. We only spent one night in town, but it was quite fun. I love spending time with my family.

Writing Sample 2: Future Plans

My plans for next year are so numerous that I probably won't be able to accomplish all of them. However, the most important ones are: I'm going to finish college, and perhaps I'll secure a job based on my studies, as I'm applying for a position at a large construction company. I would also love to travel all across the country. The most important thing to do right away is to secure the job and save enough money so that in a few years I can get married.

Writing Sample 3: My Mom

The most important person in my life is my mom because she is always there for me, even when I just need a hug. She knows me so well that she has become the center of my life, and I'm the most important person in her life too. I don't know what I would do without her.

Collaborative Work & Language Use

  • Anne: Working as a team is better.
  • Thomas: Helping one another can be an effective way to do things.
  • Paulina: Respect for your coworkers.

Use of Language: (a, c, c, b, b, a)

Key Insights: Aquaculture & Media Impact

Aquaculture Insights

  • R1: Developing fish that are larger and faster-growing, more efficient in converting feed into muscle, more tolerant of low oxygen levels in water, and better able to resist disease.
  • R2: Water pollution: Fish waste and uneaten food accumulate at farm sites, and they can float directly downstream into water supplies, using resources inefficiently.
  • R3: The world's seafood comes from marine harvests.
  • R4: The transfer of genes from one species to another.
  • R5: Many consumers will choose sustainably produced fish in the future, just as they prefer dolphin-free tuna today.

Media Influence and Societal Impact

I completely agree with that. Previously, TV and movies were for almost everyone, and the content was appropriate for all ages. However, this is no longer the case. Movies are increasingly violent and are becoming even worse as the years pass. They portray violence as commonplace, leading people to believe that such behavior is normal. Instead of promoting positive values, television is negatively impacting society. Programs with this kind of content attract more viewers every single day. Television stations do not worry about the damage they are causing; they only care about their earnings.
