Stimulation Techniques and Entertainment for the Elderly

The need to motivate and encourage at this stage of life involves the study of different actions and techniques that accompany the ADL with a therapeutic purpose. It varies by person, state, the cultural, familial, social, and second chances, time, space, and frequency.

Therapies and Techniques to Feel Motivated

Psychomotor Therapy

It is the action by the body that acts as an intermediary for corporal functions. Psychomotor activity is aimed at the adult and child in a normal situation, as well as those with physical or mental disabilities. Geriatric psychomotor care is for the elderly.

Music Therapy

An indispensable element in entertainment and stimulation. If used more as a therapy, it helps to restore and improve health, both physically and mentally. The use of sound brings the experience of physical movement and mental stimulation.

Occupational Therapy

A treatment method that allows to rehabilitate, restore, and develop the most affected areas and maintain their physical and social skills.

Stimulation Therapy Group

Group work is a method that helps people to relate to each other.

Manual Therapy (Crafts)

This therapy does not provide for rehabilitation and recovery but rather maintaining creativity and teamwork.

The game is a very important tool in psychomotor therapy and its goal is the interaction of man and the world around them.

The Game: A Sort

Objectives: Ocular-manual coordination and strengthening of the muscles of the upper extremities.

Material: Former appropriate height tables, bottles, cups, plates, cutlery.

Development: This game is to classify objects based on color, object type, material, and size in the different compartments provided.
