Collegiate and Participatory Governing Bodies

School Council

Members: Representatives of Parents’ Associations, Teachers & Students & Town Council & Staff Representatives, Headmaster, Head of Studies, Secretary.

Functions:

  • Approve the PEC (School Educational Project), management project, Rules and Regulations, and School Annual Plan.
  • Be informed of candidates for Head Teacher and their projects; participate in the selection process.
  • Be notified of the appointment and dismissal of management team members.
  • Decide upon pupils’ admission.
  • Write proposals and reports about the functioning of the institution.
  • Be informed of the resolution of disciplinary conflicts and guarantee compliance.
  • Propose measures for coexistence, gender equality, and peaceful resolution of conflicts in all areas.
  • Designate one person in charge of encouraging educational measures promoting equality.
  • Oversee maintenance and renewal of school facilities and equipment, and approve new resources.
  • Determine guidelines for collaboration (educational, cultural purposes) with outside bodies.
  • Assess the general running of the school, evolution of academic performance, and results of internal and external evaluations.

Teacher’s Assembly

Functions:

  • Propose school projects, including annual planning, and establish criteria for student’s guidance, academic supervision, and assessment.
  • Promote initiatives in pedagogical innovation, research, and teacher training.
  • Choose their representatives in the School Council.
  • Be informed of candidates for Head Teacher and their projects.
  • Assess the running of the school, evolution of academic performance, and results of internal and external evaluations.
  • Be informed of school rules and regulations, resolution of disciplinary conflicts, and the imposition of sanctions; guarantee adherence to regulations.
  • Suggest measures and initiatives favouring coexistence.

Unipersonal Governing Bodies (Individual Officers)

Head Teacher Functions

The Head Teacher acts as the Education Authority that represents the school.

  • Communicate ideas, aspirations, and needs of the educational community.
  • Supervise and coordinate school activities and lead the school’s staff.
  • Provide pedagogical supervision, promote educational innovation, and encourage plans to attain the goals of the school’s PEC.
  • Ensure that legislation and other regulations are observed.
  • Foster coexistence, guarantee mediation, and impose appropriate disciplinary measures on students.
  • Call and preside over official functions and meetings, and implement the agreements reached by such bodies.
  • Hire works, services, and supplies, as well as authorize expenses in accordance with the school budget.
  • Formulate proposals to the education authority regarding the appointment and dismissal of management team members.
