Next, we will ascend Sugarloaf Mountain, whose name is said to refer to the similar shape of loaf sugar. It is known worldwide for its cableway and panoramic views of the city and beyond. This mountain is one of several monolithic granite peaks that rise straight from the water's edge around Rio de Janeiro.

Escadaria Selarón: The World-Famous Steps

The vibrant Escadaria Selarón, also known as the 'Selarón Steps', is a set of world-famous steps. It was created by the artist Jorge Selarón, who claimed it as his tribute to the Brazilian people. He was Chilean, by the way.

The dates we have chosen are no coincidence; our main interest in visiting Rio is the Carnival, which takes place in the last week of February. This is truly the main attraction during this period and an unforgettable experience everyone should have.
