Mirroring
Mirroring involves using another person as a reference point, adapting aspects of their behavior without directly imitating them. This includes adopting similar gestures, tone of voice, and posture to establish rapport and adjust your communication style.
Negative Body Language in Interviews
Negative body language can convey unhappiness or disinterest. Avoid the following gestures during interviews:
- Shoulders back
- Persistent visual contact (staring)
- Arms crossed
- Perspiration
- Hands clenched into fists
- Swinging in the chair
- Shaking or teeth chattering
Mood and Body Language

Unconscious Body Language
: It can provide a lot of information about how a person feels or what they are thinking, without saying a word. The problem is that it can reveal things that we do not want revealed.It can be linked to culture. Ex: Westerners will move their eyes to the left when they want to remember something. If we use the right (rational) hand in a speech, it means that you have planned it. Left hand: spontaneity, more emotional. Bite the nails and touch your hair: be nervous. FUNCTIONS OF BL WITHIN COMM: Regulating: BL: Function of pacing and regulating comm (kinetics: gestures, voice, golpe: to indicate when someone has finished talking)- Substituting: BL is used to substitute verbal comm. (look the clook to demostrate that you are tired and don't want to speak more)- Conflicting: your BL says the opposite than your verbal comm. Coherency. (eye contact: interest /hand in the pocket: not interest)- Accenting: Make clear an idea, acentua verbal comm. Complementing: Use body language to support and add credibility to your words. If it's considered fake create conflict - Repeating: BL to repeat what you're saying verbally (Mirrowing) (decir que abra la puerta y apuntar a la puerta). MYTHS: The eye of liar, eye contact is good, hand behind the back, Touching shows dominance, Smile means happy, Fast- Talkers be trusted.
