Modern and Contemporary Art: Scam or Genius?
"Is contemporary or modern art a scam or a stroke of genius?" This is a common question. Although this is considered art, for me, it is not.
On the one hand, when you see a work of art from other eras, such as Romanesque art, regardless of your personal tastes, the work behind the artwork is appreciated. In return, when you look at a work of contemporary art, although you look and look, you find nothing, and it often comes with disproportionately high prices.
On the other hand, a few years ago, the BBC did a test. They put three works regarded as true works of art and three works made by children together. The result was curious: the work that received the most votes was made by a child, and many experts in contemporary art also voted for that work.
To sum up, it is clear that I don't like contemporary art. However, other people may like it. For me, it is a scam.
Solidarity and Help: Selflessness vs. Self-Interest
"People always think of themselves." This is a common saying. Although it is clear that everyone thinks of themselves to some extent, there are people who do things for others without expecting anything in return.
On the one hand, there are people who are not at all altruistic, who only think about themselves. Some people are altruistic but expect to receive something in return. A study by the University of Oxford in 2011 showed that 90 percent of people fall into this group.
On the other hand, there are truly altruistic people, but they are very few. These individuals do not expect anything in return, just to feel good about themselves.
To sum up, the majority of people today are altruistic but look to receive something in return.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Starting Your Own Business
Some people consider starting their own business at some point in their lives. Like everything in life, having your own business has advantages and disadvantages, securities and risks. But perhaps, doesn't having a job also have risks? I think we have to live the wonderful adventure of starting a business sometime in life.
In this essay, we are going to discuss the arguments in favor of and against this issue.
Advantages of Starting Your Own Business
- Economic independence
- Freedom of time
- Possibility to work where you like
- Leaving an inheritance
- Planning your holidays
A study by... showed that 40 percent of people have had profits with their own business, 50 percent have lost some money, but not much, and 10 percent were ruined by their own business.
Disadvantages of Starting Your Own Business
The disadvantages are fewer than the advantages, but they may be more important.
- All risks are on you
- Economic income is not the same from month to month
- Not every month may have profits
- You have to be very strong mentally to start a business
To sum up, it is clear that there are more advantages, but having your own business has many risks. Some people prefer not to complicate their lives because there is a possibility of going broke. I think that starting a business and trying to become rich is okay if you know that you will not end up homeless or anything.
