Mechatronics Engineer Job Description

Mechatronics engineers are responsible for designing mechanical equipment. Combining their knowledge of computer, mechanical, and electrical engineering, they develop various automated products, such as cameras, cars, and aircraft. The engineering process typically involves designing and assembling components, testing products in development, making improvements, and evaluating finished products. Engineers must also assess equipment and publish reports outlining production factors, such as practical use, safety, and cost.

Mechanical Engineer Job Duties:

• Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs;
• Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
• Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Mechatronics engineers create and improve automated processes.

Mechatronics Engineer Education Requirements

Prospective candidates may enroll in a bachelor's degree program in mechatronics engineering, offered by colleges and universities. Requirements to enter the major typically include calculus, engineering fundamentals, and physics. Once core courses are complete, students may cover topics in circuit analysis, digital controls, and robotics. Most programs also include design and laboratory courses that allow students to test the materials used in products or processes

Salary

Starting salaries for mechatronics engineers are in the range of 20,000 to 28,000.

With experience, this can increase to between 45,000 and 50,000.
