MDS Data Field Definitions

1. Processor Type

MDS hospitalization. MDS-day surgical hospital (HDQ). MDS-day hospital doctor (HDQ).

2. File Transfer Process

The person credited by the hospital sent the files to the server from the information processing center using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Access: http://portal-cti.sas.junta-andalucia.es/alta_usuarios.htm.

3. Field of Origin (APPLY)

Identify the source of the contact or income.

1-digit text field.

• 1-2: Emergency consultations (including diagnostic tests and therapies)
• 3: Quirúrgica waiting list (LEQ)
• 4: Day hospital doctor
• 5: Day surgical hospital
• 6: Another area of the hospital or hospital outside the SSPA
• 7: Hospital birth hospitalization
• 8-9-0: Home hospital others

4. Hospital Area of Origin (PROCHE)

5-digit text field.

• Hospitals in Andalucía and Ceuta: This variable has the values of Annexes 4 and 5.
• Other hospital-CCAA: Identified with the code of its province (Annex 7) aligned to the left.

5. Social Security User Number (NUSS / AFILSS)

12-digit text field.

6. Hospital Area (Hospital)

5-digit text field. This variable may contain only the values contained in Annex 4 (code of the hospital areas of the SSPA).

7. Unique Health History Number Andalucía (NUHSA / HISTORY)

The NUHSA is the patient's unique identifier in the SSPA. This variable contains a continuous sequence of 12 characters. The first two are the letters AN and the remaining 10 are numbers.

8. Record Identifier (CID)

7-digit text field.

9. Date of Birth (FECNAC)

8-digit text field (ddmmyyyy)

10. Sexo

1-digit text field.

• 1: Male
• 2: Female
• 3: Indeterminate

11. Residence (RESIDE)

5-digit text field.

• When living in Andalucía: Collects postcode.
• Rest of Spain: Digits in Annex 7.
• When residing abroad: The first 2 numbers for the international code and the 3 after for the country of origin (Annex 6).

12. Ocupación

Coding this variable uses the National Classification of Occupations (CON_94), found in Annex 8. 3-digit text field.

13. Financing (REGFIN)

Refers to the entity or institution. 1-digit text field.

• 1: National Health System
• 2: Mutual accidentes de trabajo
• 3: Mutual accidentes de tráfico
• 4: Mutuas públicas
• 5: Private financing
• 6: Mixed
• 7-8: Other international agreement

14. Date of Entry or Contact (FECING)

8-digit text field. Continuous sequence of 8 numbers.
