The 21st century has been one of the most innovative ages for online platforms. Online learning has become more interesting and fruitful. However, the lack of face-to-face interaction is creating some severe issues. In this essay, we will discuss both the positive and negative aspects of e-learning.
Advantages of E-Learning
First of all, online education has broadened the dimension of learning beyond limits. Gaining knowledge in the old days, sitting back in schools, was always boring and ineffective for understanding. But now, with the evolution of online technology, the level of understanding has been increasing, as we can learn from different tutors all around the world, as many times as we want. In addition, e-learning has made it possible for us to learn anything, from simple tasks like cooking to more advanced tasks about computers. For instance, Coursera is one of the largest online course platforms where we can find every related course. Many learning apps like BYJU'S app are also helping students online. Thus, we can say that productivity in education has increased with the help of online education.
Disadvantages of E-Learning
Conversely, today's dynamic world is becoming more and more globalized, but at the same time, unfriendly behavior seems to be increasing due to less face-to-face interaction. As we can learn from home, there won't be any need to gather in class like in schools. That means there won't be face-to-face interaction with tutors and friends. In addition, we cannot ask cross-questions in the middle of a lecture, as many students will be watching the lecture at a time. For example, most of the courses are pre-recorded videos that are uploaded to websites and apps. This limits immediate clarification of doubts. Even if questions are allowed, the sheer volume of learners makes it difficult for tutors to answer them all.
Conclusion
Despite all the advantages and disadvantages, e-learning was introduced for the well-being of students all around the world. In spite of some negative impacts, there are many more positive aspects of e-learning. So, we should consider online education a boon for us.
