Key Computer and Software Terms
1. Text Editor: It is a program through which we can enter text without a specific file format.
2. Word Processing: It serves not only to write, but also to format the text and offer a better appearance.
3. Document: A data file with a specific format that is interpreted by the processor.
4. Book: An entire document with all its pages.
5. Section: An organizational unit of the document that may implement a number of characteristics.
6. Paragraph: An organizational unit below a section.
7. Style: A way of sorting, identifying, and storing a set of formatting and other features.
8. Index: A part of the document, usually found at the end.
9. Table of Contents: An index with page layout format which summarizes the contents of the document.
10. Application: Software designed to perform a specific task for end users.
11. Suites: Application software packages.
12. Purpose-Specific Applications: Created for specific tasks and that only solve a particular problem.
13. Commercial Software: There is a contract that specifies what can and cannot be done.
14. Public Domain Software (Freeware): Should specify from where it originates.
15. Shareware: You pay a set price to the author.
16. Copyright (©): The right to copy.
17. Copyleft: Software that aims to release software licenses.
18. Basic Installation: For users with few computer skills. The program will make an installation based on the detected items on your computer.
19. Complete Installation: For users who want to install everything included with the application, because they will use it or do not yet know what they need.
20. Custom Installation: Allows the expert user to include or remove items from the application to optimize resources by installing only those elements of the application to be used.
21. Exploitation: Appropriate use of the features and functionality of an application.
22. Direct Exchange: Performed when the receiver application recognizes the data format.
23. Indirect Exchange: Necessary if the receiver application does not recognize the format.
24. Load: A set of programs, data, and commands that are submitted to the system.
25. Bottleneck: Limiting the efficiency of the system due to a mismatch of hardware or software components or system organization.
26. TD = MTBF / (MTBF + MTTR) = functioning time / total time. * Unavailability rate (TI) = 1 TD = MTTR / (MTBF + MTTR) = Time not available / total time.
27. Column: A group of cells that are located one above the other.
Row: A set of cells side by side.
28. Functions: Predefined formulas included in the spreadsheet that let you perform complex operations.
29. Scenarios: A set of alternative values used to calculate the model output from a spreadsheet.
30. Bar Menu: Top (file...) Standard toolbar: where the pictures below printer are, bar format: after the (=), formatting toolbar: where you change the letter etc...; status bar: bottom of all right, and screen-work.
