Like Everything in Us
Like everything in us, God wanted to become man with all its consequences. He has shared in human life as humanity has known what it is to enjoy, suffer, work, fight, love and betray, the search for its own mission, and trust in God.
Jesus Reveals Who God Is
Jesus is the human face of God. That God whom no one has seen before is revealed in Jesus. Whoever sees Jesus sees God. Discover who God is for humans, how he is interested in them, and how he seeks their salvation.
God Becomes Man in Jesus
God is uniquely present in the life of Jesus. In the life of Jesus, the Word of God is fully present, and we can say that God and Jesus are one in a profound mystery of communion.
Jesus, Son of God
Believers express this truth in different ways and in other languages:
- Jesus is the Word of God made flesh.
- Jesus is the Son of God, not a creature other than God. Jesus, like the Father, has no origin; he is eternally generated.
The Christian community confesses that Jesus is the Son of God who became man for our salvation.
Liturgical Year and Celebrations
These seasons commemorate important events in the life of Jesus: Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter (Resurrection), and Ordinary Time.
Advent
Advent is a time of hopeful expectation and preparation. It prepares us during the four weeks before Christmas to reflect on how to change our lives and repair what is broken in our relationships, our environment, and with God. It calls us to turn away from negativity and to change because God values conversion and renewal.
Symbols: Advent wreath, a road, a tree.
Liturgical Colors
- White: Christmas and Easter.
- Purple: Advent and Lent.
- Red: Pentecost, martyrs, and apostles.
- Green: Ordinary Time.
Mary
Mary is the woman who makes possible the salvation of humankind by accepting God's request to work with her. Her plans were changed, and it was not easy to trust God, yet she said yes and cooperated with the work of salvation.
Christmas
Christmas is the second liturgical season of the Christian year. It begins on December 25 and ends on Epiphany. Christmas means "God with us." Its meaning is that Jesus wanted to share our reality, including pain, contempt, betrayal, and also joy.
Symbol: The mystery — the present reality in Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Color: White. Its meaning is the message of peace from the angels: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will."
