Non-Infectious Diseases

In addition to diseases caused by microorganisms, other diseases are caused by different reasons:

a) Diseases Affecting the Functioning of the Equipment

These include circulatory diseases, which affect the respiratory tract (such as asthma or bronchitis), and those that affect bones or joints (osteoarthritis and osteoporosis).

b) Cancer

This occurs when certain cells, for reasons not yet fully clarified, undergo a metamorphosis that makes them divide rapidly and uncontrollably. As a result, it creates a mass of abnormal cells, called a tumor, which causes the destruction of nearby tissue.

c) Deficiency Diseases

These are caused by a poor diet lacking in certain nutrients. Examples include vitamin deficiency or anemia.

d) Traumatic Diseases

These are injuries caused by domestic accidents, employment, traffic, entertainment, and sports.

e) Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases

These are diseases caused by excessive or deficient secretion of some hormones. Examples include diabetes and obesity.

f) Mental or Behavioral Diseases

These are disorders of thinking, behavior, or emotions that cause physical, psychological, and social integration challenges.

g) Genetic Disorders

These are diseases caused by the genes of the person affected by the disease.

The Prevention of Non-Infectious Diseases

  • Do not smoke because cigarette smoke produces carcinogens that are inhaled with the smoke.
  • Do not abuse processed meats or sausages as they contain carcinogens.
  • Do not consume carcinogenic substances in oil repeatedly, as it is dangerous.
  • Eat plant foods (vegetables and fruits).
  • Do not overexpose yourself to the sun, as it damages the skin.
  • Perform medical checkups after a certain age.
  • Follow a proper and healthy diet.
  • Do not use toxic substances.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Rest adequately.
  • Maintain a proper posture at all times.
  • Avoid contaminated dishes.
  • Respect road safety and labor regulations.

Health and Sickness

Health: Is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.

Sickness: Is a process and the consequent status of a living condition characterized by an alteration of its ontological status of health.
