Definition and Principles of Hunting Resource Management

This technique aims to improve hunting resources. It involves analyzing, diagnosing, and planning a specific area.

Purpose

  • Provide guidelines for responsible and sustainable resource management.

Objectives

  • Achieve optimal state and productivity.
  • Manage hunting activities in conjunction with other land uses.
  • Maximize economic and environmental benefits.

The management process includes two parts:

  • Planning: Develops a program based on a thorough study of the territory.
  • Management: Implements the proposed plan, establishing land management guidelines.

PTGC: Planning Tools for Hunting

PTGC (Planning Instruments for Hunting Purposes) aim to achieve sustainable hunting practices compatible with ecosystem and endangered species conservation.

Purpose

  • Order and facilitate the management of game species and hunting areas.
  • Encourage game populations and their sustainable management.
  • Promote protected species and ecosystem health.

Submitting a PTGC

  • Submit individually for each hunting area.
  • Adjacent areas may submit a joint plan (minimum 25% shared perimeter).

PTGC Validity

PTGCs are valid for four years; the RNC and ZCC are valid for one year.

When to Update a PTGC

  • Hunting area size changes by more than 30% (minimum 100 hectares).
  • Significant changes in target species.
  • Change of ownership (existing PTGC applies until expiry, except in protected areas).

Protected Hunting Areas

Hunting Restrictions

Areas where hunting is prohibited for various reasons.

Wildlife Nature Reserves (SNR)

Areas protecting specific or endangered species.

Wildlife Refuges (TMB)

Limited areas where hunting is prohibited to preserve wildlife.

Integral Nature Reserves

Areas with high scientific interest, dedicated to preserving natural ecosystems.

National Parks

Hunting Security Zones

Areas where weapon use is forbidden.
