Core Methods of Sports Instruction

These are the main methods used in teaching sports:

  • Deductive Method: The teacher states a principle, and the student reflects upon it.
  • Inductive Method: The student discovers new experiences and evolves to acquire new knowledge.
  • Analytical Method: This method is developed by dividing the gesture or task in order to practice it separately, taking into account only some of the variables or elements involved in the competition. Technology is improving rapidly.
  • Mixed Method: Presentation of the gesture in its entirety and exercises that gradually lead to the improvement of the sports action, alternately using the global method and the qualitative method.
  • Global Method: Creates a real competition situation variables and adapts some aspects of training, directly motivating the athlete because they identify with the competition.

The Teaching Procedure

The teaching procedure is defined as the path followed in the implementation of a method.

  • Explanation: Must be short, clear, precise, and progressive.
  • Demonstration: Will take place where practicable.
  • Repetition and Development: Focuses on flow and coordination.

Essential Didactic Elements in Education

Didactic elements in any teaching situation are a number of components that are constant and essential for the process:

  • Professor (Teacher): The expert in the subject area taught or transmitted. The professor is the counselor in charge of education and encourages students in their learning process, although there are forms of education where the professor is not listed or appears very little.
  • Student: The person who acquires the learning.
  • Objectives: These are the goals we want our students to reach.
  • Matter (Content): This is what we teach.
  • Methods of Teaching: The various instruments available to the teacher for their students to access the proposed objectives. The methodology may involve different organizations of content, the student group, different sources of information for students to perform different activities, and combinations of different tactics with each other.
  • Medium (Context): Determines the type and extent of education. We must take into account the social, cultural, economic, and environmental factors.
