My Friend Nerea

When I moved to my current town, I met my friend Nerea.

She is 16 and lives in Mollet del Vallés, Barcelona. Nerea is petite and thin, with long dark hair, brown eyes, and a small nose. She usually wears jeans and boots and almost never wears a skirt or dress. She is very pretty.

She loves going out with friends and talking to everyone. She enjoys shopping and trying on clothes, but she can never find the things she likes. I always argue with her because she spends a lot of time, and I hate it! She also hates watching football on television because she always gets angry with the players.

I like her because she is a little crazy, and she understands me very well.

Family Vacation

This holiday was great. My family traveled to the beach of Mar del Plata and had lots of fun, so I cannot complain.

We stayed in a hotel where we were treated really well, and we began to enjoy ourselves.

My brother and I played in the sand, and we made many sandcastles with help from Dad. We even had a competition to see who was better, and as always, he beat me.

My mom and I went shopping at a big store. We bought souvenirs, objects, and ornaments, and we came back fully loaded with things to the hotel.

On the hottest days, we went into the sea and swam until we were tired. Mom always looked after us and warned us of danger.

The moment I spent with my whole family was complete when we played volleyball on the beach. Each and every one of us participated in the game and had a good time together. I think we were never that close because the rest of the year, each of us is busy with our responsibilities. So, the holidays are my favorite time of year, and when it's time to go home, we all get sad.

Obviously, in all these moments, we took pictures, which I later edited on the computer and added effects to make them look cuter. Then, Mom and Dad made a scrapbook with them.

I had fun, and I really look forward to the coming holiday season to see where we will go next time because Mom said if we behave well throughout the year and if we merit it, we will go elsewhere. I hope everything goes well, and we can travel again.

A For and Against Essay on Studying English

Today, everyone thinks that studying English is essential to your education and many other aspects of life.

It is clear that if you study English, you can travel around the world without problems, and you can make friends with people from other countries because English is one of the most spoken languages. Some people would argue that if you study English, it is easier to get a job; also, when you study at the university, some subjects or books are in English. Finally, if you know English, you can listen to American music and watch films in their original version.

Others would argue that there are some disadvantages to studying English. If you want to learn English and get a good level, you need a lot of time at school, and you have to take classes at an academy. So, you need a lot of free time. Many people think that if you are Spanish, you don’t need to know other languages because Spanish is spoken by millions of people. Also, if you live in Spain, you don’t need to speak English in your normal life.

In conclusion, I think that studying English seems very important today, but I have the doubt that maybe in the future, another language, for example, Chinese, will dominate the world. Perhaps in a few years, English won’t be so important.

Letter to Joel

Hi Joel,

How is your life in Madrid? Sorry I haven’t written to you before; I was very occupied with exams. Every week, I had at least three exams!

At last, Christmas holiday arrived! And I can take a rest, although I have to study Maths because I have failed. I’m planning to study in the morning every day and go out with my friends every afternoon. Also, I’m going to visit my family because we always eat together on Christmas Day and New Year's Day too. On these special days, grandparents, aunts, and cousins celebrate Christmas all together. Maybe I will have a party at my house with my friends on New Year's Eve night. I’m sure it will be very funny and cheaper than a party in a disco. I’d like you to come, but I’d understand if you can’t. Have you decided what you’re going to do?
