Journey to Tarapoto: Family Roots and Long Travels
My family and I had always wanted to go to Tarapoto because my mother grew up there, so our vacations started thanks to that connection. First, I had to travel from Ica to Lima. Since the trip was longer than the one to Chincha, I brought different types of books to avoid boredom, including:
- Magazines
- A novel
- A travel guide to prepare for the trip
From Ica to Lima: Preparing for the Flight
After finally arriving in Lima, we had to take a plane to Tarapoto. The most amusing thing that happened to us was that we had to help a foreign couple who did not speak the language well, and we advised them to use a Dictionary. After helping them, we boarded the plane. Since we traveled at night, I remembered that I wanted to watch a movie, so I started watching a film that was of science fiction. The plot was about a man who traveled to the future to fight a war; it was very funny.
Arrival in Tarapoto and Local Art
When we arrived in Tarapoto, we first went to the hotel, as we were as tired as when we arrived in Lima. The next day, we went to the main square where there was a statue. Walking down the street, we could see works of art. More than anything, there was street art, such as:
- Graffiti
- Paintings
- Murals
These works, in my opinion, were better than those in Ica.
Morro Calzada: Nature's Beauty
After walking, we went to Morro Calzada. It had a beautiful view; we could breathe in all the nature, and the landscape was fantastic. When it got dark, we returned to the hotel to rest.
The Epic Trip to Kuelap in Chachapoyas
The next day, we quickly headed toward Kuelap. We took a bus from Tarapoto to Moyobamba and then a car from Moyobamba to Kuelap, which is located in Chachapoyas. While we were traveling, I was sending text messages to my grandparents to share the beauty of the landscape. When we got to Chachapoyas, we took a short trip to the cable car, which was undoubtedly the best part of the trip, because you could see everything from there.
Kuelap's Magnificent Architecture
After 20 minutes, we finally reached Kuelap, which was magnificent. The architecture was the best part of the place, and the route was amazing, but the altitude of Kuelap was greater than that of Tarapoto. It was by far the longest trip I have ever had in my life.
