Notes and Invitations

Thank You Note:

Note of thanks: Hogas

Hi Phillipa,
I've had a great time.
I've fed the cat.
I was feeding the cat all day, and the cat was good.
I was given the keys to the porter or the neighbor.
I have keys on the table.
I've bought eggs because I ate them for breakfast.
Thank you very much.

Apology Note:

Arriving to a friend's house but not being able to welcome them:
Hi Ana,
Sorry, I'm not here to welcome you.
Make yourself at home and help yourself to anything in the fridge.
There's tea and coffee in the cupboard above the cooker.
I've made the bed for you in the end room.
Feel free to have a shower and turn the heating on.
Back from work at 5.

Carlos

Cinema Invitation:

Hi Mark,
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is coming out this weekend. Shall we go and see it on Saturday? It's on at the Yelmo Cine Las Arenas. We could meet at Tony Roma's at 8? What do you think?
Carlos

Formal Email: Language Course Inquiry

Requesting information about a language course

From: Me
To: Recipient
Subject: Language Course Inquiry

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to ask for information about your language courses, specifically those lasting two or three weeks. I am especially interested in an intensive course at Milan University. I can read English quite well, but I need to improve my listening and speaking skills. The book I am currently studying is pre-intermediate level.

I have looked at your website, but there is no information about intensive courses next summer. Could you please send me information about dates and prices? I would also like some information about accommodation. If possible, I would like to stay with a family. My wife is going to visit me for a weekend while I am at the school. Could she stay with me in the same family?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,

Carlos Garcia

Describing a Place: Las Palmas

I live in Las Palmas, one of the most important cities in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This city offers a great variety of entertainment, such as museums, theaters, cinemas, parks around the city, restaurants to eat typical food, and a lot of shops to buy trendy clothes. In addition, you can visit some villages close to Las Palmas. If you want to walk along the beach, you may visit San Cristobal. Besides, there are people who prefer peace and quiet. In this case, you can have a picnic in the different parks which you can find not only in the center but also around Las Palmas, such as Doramas Park and Santa Catalina Park. Every year, millions of tourists visit this exciting city. This is a place which can be visited all year round. At Christmas, this city is beautiful. Finally, I love my city, and I can offer this advice: the weather in Gran Canaria is wonderful in summer.
