Mission Mandate and Command Structure

The chain of command rotates, changing every two years, with a different European country taking charge of the mission.

Operational Deficiencies

1. Gate Duty Delays: Duty at the gates takes an excessive amount of time.
2. Local Authority Interference: The base belongs to the Malian Armed Forces, which sometimes attempt to assert control within the base despite EUTM authority.

During Spain's command of the mission, a critical situation involving the Malian Colonel was successfully resolved. The Colonel complied with demands and closed an insecure door. This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of diplomacy in resolving operational conflicts and maintaining security.
