Historical Context: Catalan Literature

A finales del siglo XIX la Renaixença había reactivado con éxito la literatura catalana y ya contaba con escritores de calidad contrastada. Pero algunos de los movimientos que habían contribuido a la recuperación como el romanticismo ya no daban más de sí, por eso intelectuales como el poeta Joan Maragall y revistas como L’Avenç, donde escribía el ensayista J. Brossa entre otros, hicieron una llamada a modernizar la cultura incorporando las corrientes que llegaban de Europa.
