Components of Food and Energy

Components of food produce energy for the body to carry out its vital functions.

Carbohydrates

Provide between 50% and 60% of total energy.

Lipids (Fats)

Composed of hydrogen and oxygen. Excessive consumption can cause diseases of the circulatory system. Derived from animal and vegetable sources; affects cholesterol levels.

Proteins

Materials that have unique nitrogen content. Essential for the creation and maintenance of muscle tissue and disease protection. They produce energy but do not contribute significantly to it.

Water

Makes up approximately 60% of the body.

Vitamins

A deficit increases exposure to illnesses. A balanced diet includes all necessary vitamins.

Minerals

Make up 4% of body weight. Intervene in the formation of the skeleton, teeth, and muscles.

Is It Good to Eat Less?

Diet is an instrument of health control. Consult a specialist before dieting. A restrictive diet should be in the range of 500–1000 calories.

Basketball Fundamentals

Game Structure

Basketball is played between 2 teams of 10 players. The aim is to introduce the ball into the opponent's basket and prevent them from scoring.

Playing Time

Four 10-minute quarters with a 10-minute rest after the first two quarters.

Punctuation (Scoring)

  • Each basket is worth 1 point.
  • Free throws are worth 2 points each.

Fouls

A foul is illegal personal contact with an opponent. It is forbidden to push, charge, or prevent the opponent's advance.

Penalty

Personal fouls are punished by awarding the offended player 2 free throws if the foul occurred during a shot attempt. Accumulating 5 personal fouls results in disqualification and awards 2 free throws to the opposing team.

Basic Positions

  • Offensive: Allows for the instant execution of any offensive move.
  • Defensive: Good positioning allows us to oppose the attacker's action.

Important Elements: Good balance, feet apart, weight on the balls of the feet, bent knees, and head up.

The Pass

The pass is how 2 players on the same team exchange the ball at the right time to continue play.

  • Chest Pass: Ball held with 2 hands, fingers outstretched, ball against the chest.
  • Bounce Pass (Picado): Directed toward the floor so it bounces to a teammate.
  • Overhead Pass: With 2 hands over the head.
  • One-Handed Pass: A single-handed pass.

The Shot

  • One-Handed Shot: Ball at forehead height, extending the shooting arm during suspension.
  • Jump Shot: Ball held above the forehead, extending the arm while in the air.
