My First Year of College and English Courses

During this first year of college, I completed a course taught entirely in English: English for Health and Exercise. This subject provided scientific knowledge and vocabulary related to the fields of Physiotherapy and CAFE (Physical Activity and Sports Science).

Using English Materials in Other Subjects

In other courses, such as Exercise Physiology and Individual Sports, we often summarize articles and work that were originally written in English, but we present the final results in our native language.

The Importance of Expanding English Instruction

I believe we must incorporate more courses taught in English. Although English has always been a challenging area for me, I enjoy learning new things. English is an international language that allows me to communicate with anyone around the world and, crucially, enables me to work comfortably with people from other countries.

B2 English Requirement for the Double Degree

To graduate with the double degree in Physiotherapy and CAFE, achieving the B2 English level is mandatory. This level requires a significant investment of time and, especially, money, which not everyone can afford given the current economic situation facing the country.

Technical, Tactical, and Strategic Training

This year, I have studied subjects related to technical, tactical, and strategic training areas, which has led me to a conclusion about future studies.

Proposed Subjects for English Instruction

I would also like to study the following subjects in English:

  • Human Anatomy
  • Exercise Physiology

These two subjects are closely related, and both fields feature excellent, scientifically advanced articles written by renowned authors.

Final Thoughts on English Proficiency in Higher Education

In conclusion, English is fundamental for any degree. As an international language, it facilitates communication with people from China, Russia, Japan, the US, and beyond. However, I disagree with the mandatory B2 level requirement for the double degree; I do not believe the specific metrics used for this level accurately reflect our true English ability. Nonetheless, studying subjects I enjoy in another language is a welcome challenge that offers significant personal and professional benefits.
